Description: Flowerbed is based on the works by English furniture maker and master craftsman Thomas Chippendale who produced highly elaborate pieces of furniture from cheap wood from British Honduras ( Belize ) during the mid eighteen century. The artist reproduces at Poustinia one of the furniture pieces symbolic of opulence in Britain and of exploitation in Belize . Flowerbed is constructed from concrete blocks, Sapodilla posts and sidings ( Sapodilla –Manilkara zapota is a hardwood found in Belize ) and enhanced with Wandering Jew –Tradescantia spp., a ground cover.
