Description:
Black Cohune marks the appearance of a new and foreign species in the forest. It was constructed from the black carcasses of exploded car and lorry tires, which line Belize 's highways. The artist was inspired by the abundant Cohune Trees in Poustinia. The sculpture was nominated for the prestigious Jerwood Sculpture Prize in London .

Flowerbed is based on the works by English furniture maker and master craftsman Thomas Chippendale who produced highly elaborate pieces of furniture from cheap wood from British Honduras ( Belize ) during the mid eighteen century. The artist reproduces at Poustinia one of the furniture pieces symbolic of opulence in Britain and of exploitation in Belize . Flowerbed is constructed from concrete blocks, Sapodilla posts and sidings ( Sapodilla –Manilkara zapota is a hardwood found in Belize ) and enhanced with Wandering Jew –Tradescantia spp., a ground cover.
